Never Sweat, Wyoming
(See below for Artist Statement)
Dubois (pronounced DEW-boyz) is a small town in the U.S. state of Wyoming located 1 ½ hours east of Jackson. The town motto is “Where Real Cowboys Work and Play.” At the 2010 census the population was 971.
Because of its warm, dry winds, Dubois was originally called Never Sweat. However, the postal service found the name unacceptable so the town was renamed after an Idaho senator named Fred Dubois. Unhappy with this renaming, the citizens rejected the French pronunciation in protest.
The photographs in this series were made in Dubois during late June/early July 2015.
